ZONA VERDE - GREEN ZONE
This year CARNAVAL SAN FRANCISCO is proud to introduce ZONA VERDE – a fun educational space to enrich body, mind, and soul. ZONA VERDE is dedicated to celebrating our union with Mother Earth and the rich harmonic traditions laid down by the native people of the original Americas and native traditions globally. One World many cultures come together in this sacred space of learning methods of healing ourselves and the planet. This ECO friendly zone will spread over one square city block (60,000 sq feet) making it the largest outdoor green event in the city’s history. Here homage is paid to protecting our sacred planet and the wisdom of the people that came before us.
Healing ceremonies; dance; renewable energy; earth friendly products; bodywork; organic food specialty items; and a celebration of the power of wind, sun, water, and air will be brought together at Carnaval San Francisco’s ZONA VERDE. We are committed to bringing attention to pressing environmental issues in a friendly celebratory manner that reflects the spirit of Carnaval San Francisco.
As we take to the streets in global celebration we encourage the consciousness of our interconnection that has been the defining message of Carnaval San Francisco for 30 years. Respect for our shared existence will blossom through this year’s CARNAVAL a la ZONA VERDE as children and adults alike learn ways to protect, love, and restore the planet and protect its people. We are committed to promoting peace and a sustainable future for generations to come.
ECO VILLAGE
The best of renewable energy and green technology will be represented at Zona Verde. This eco/green educational space and marketplace will feature natural home products - green building supplies - alternative energy resources - conservation techniques and recycling - fair trade global merchandise - and a wide array of organic food and specialty products.
HOLISTIC HEALTH PAVILLION
The Holistic Health exhibition space brings together the’ best of the bay’ massage groups and body workers - organic body and health products - natural remedies from around the world - classes and demonstrations of yoga - acupuncture - movement - dance and martial arts are open to all. In addition, we offer a conscious fine art gallery and an interactive green kid’s zone - complete with a hula hoop circle for the entire family to enjoy.
GLOBAL HEALING CEREMONIES
Performance groups representing folkloric healing rituals ranging from Native American dance - Aztec dance and ceremonies - Sufi dance - Capoeira - Indian and Tibetan meditation music - Moroccan melodies - Tribal DJs and much more! will be showcased at Zona Verde throughout Carnival’s two-day event
By returning to the traditions and wisdom of native people from around the world, we can relearn how to embrace our mother earth. Blending the knowledge of our elders with new technologies can move us beyond borders towards peace and saving our planet.
