Women's Week of Actions leading up to Mothers' Day!
From Monday, May 5th until Friday May 9th, as a part of reclaiming the Mothers Day of Julia Ward Howe's Proclamation and as a protest against the $178 Billion more dollars proposed to continue funding the occupation of Iraq, we are planning women-focused daily protests at the MRS! This is our schedule:
* Monday, May 5th: Grandmothers Day of Action: Raging Grannies Action: Grandmothers speak with recruiters and volunteer to be recruited, instead of our youth
* Tuesday, May 6th: Mothers Day of Action: Fierce Mothers Rage Against War: Mothers
bring their determination to immediately halt the terrors of war.
* Wednesday, May 7th: Daughters Day of Action: Daughters of War Speak Out: from youth to elders, daugthers speak of the price we pay living with war and/or with those who have gone to war.
* Thursday, May 8th: Sistahs: Sisters don’t allow Sisters to in War Zones: Sisters reveal the status of women in Iraq and the U.S. military
* Friday, May 9th: Witches, Crones, Sirens: perform rituals of leaving, share wisdom, invoke the foremothers, cast a spell of peace and love over the station, rendering nil the recruiting of our youth to become fodder for this occupation of Iraq – and the $178 Billion war funding.
Then on Sunday, Mother's Day, May 11th, we march across the Golden Gate Bridge at noon.
PLEASE call 510-524-2776 or email if you're willing to sponsor, participate, help organize, or just BE THERE!
* MRS (Marine Recruiting Station) is at 62 Shattuck Square, Berkeley – all Mother’s Day Week actions will take place there. For more
