Steven Swain is the new Environmental Horticulture Advisor for UC Cooperative Extension in Marin and Sonoma counties.  His background is in commercial arboriculture.  He previously worked in Sonoma County as the Sudden Oak Death Project Coordinator, and more recently worked at UC Berkeley, specializing in composting and the spread of Phytophthora ramorum.

Marin Rose Society, an affiliate of the The American Rose Society, meets on the second Tuesday of each month (except December) at 7:30 p.m. at Marin Art & Garden Center, Ross. Our meetings are free of charge and open to the public. We offer great speakers, mini rose shows, refreshments, raffles, and Consulting Rosarian advice.

Members enjoy an award winning newsletter, garden tours, social events, and a great deal of fun!

Our goals are to promote the culture, interest and appreciation of roses of all kinds; and to educate gardeners of Marin County on rose nomenclature, rose types(classifications) and their uses, propagation, maintenance, and exhibiting techniques.

In 2004, the Marin Rose Society founded the first public county rose garden located at the Marin Art & Garden Center in Ross.  Free to the public.
