Non-profit, grassroots organization POOR Magazine announces the launch
of its summer seminars at the Race, Poverty and Media Justice
Institute. Beginning June 3rd, innovative seminars and workshops on
poverty journalism, community organizing, advocacy and multimedia
production will be open to students, media professionals and more.
These revolutionary programs are ideal for people interested in
learning and practicing untraditional, arts-centered, non-colonizing
media justice and advocacy.
Join us on May 13th at 6:00 p.m. for an opportunity to learn more about
the seminars and classes offered at Race, Poverty, and Media Justice
Institute. Speak to class facilitators and learn how to approach issues
of poverty, racism, disability, immigration, gentrification, police
brutality and more in writing, art and media production through a
socially-conscious lens, as well as how to facilitate access for
unheard voices while exploring short and long term solutions to poverty
and racism.
Past students will also be available to speak on their experience at
the Race, Poverty, and Media Justice Institute and how the seminars
prepared them to become community organizers, advocacy journalists, and
socially conscience media producers.
Appetizers and childcare provided and POOR Magazine's own Po' Poets will perform spoken word.
