A proposal to tax currency transactions on foreign exchange markets, through multilateral cooperation, and to utilize the revenue for basic environmental and human needs. Such a tax will tame currency market volatility and restore national economic sovereignty. (The name Tobin Tax derives from James Tobin, a Nobel-laureate economist at Yale University.)
