Dedicated to sustainable development in Nicaragua, El Porvenir supports self-help, community-initiated water, sanitation and reforestation projects. In 14 years, El Porvenir has completed 350 projects and served over 14,000 people!
El Porvenir’s goals are to improve the health of poor people, to reduce infant mortality, to lessen the physical burden on women and children of carrying water, to support community-initiated efforts in rural villages, to transfer to the villagers skills which they can use to improve their lives, and to preserve the watersheds on which the water projects depend.
