A nonprofit full-service financial cooperative since 1937. People who live or work in Alameda, and their families are eligible for membership. Credit unions were signed into law by President Roosevelt in 1934 to stop the tyranny of loan sharks. Credit union loan and savings rates are the benchmark for banks. We are not owned by stockholders. We are governed by an all-volunteer board of directors who are elected by the membership. Our profits are given back to the members in the form of lower loan rates and higher interest on savings. When you invest in credit unions, you invest in your neighbors and your community.
